A journal you can talk to, because it has actually read you.

MomentoMori is an AI journaling app you can just talk to. Say what happened, in whatever order it comes out, and Seneca writes it up and tags it for you. The AI does the part nobody ever does: it rereads everything, remembers everything, and shows you the patterns your own life has been drawing.

The problem with every journal you have kept

Journaling works. The research on that is solid, and we have a whole guide on it. But traditional journals, paper or digital, share a flaw: they are write-only. You pour a year of your life into pages nobody rereads, and the deepest value of a journal, the patterns, the recurring worries, the slow wins, stays locked inside.

A diary remembers everything and tells you nothing. An AI journal closes that loop.

The writing stays yours, private and unpolished. The rereading, the part that required a free weekend and heroic discipline, becomes a conversation.

Chat with your journal

Ask your journal questions the way you would ask a friend with perfect memory: what was I worried about in March, what do my best weeks have in common, when did I last feel this stuck and what got me out. The AI reads your actual entries, the real words you wrote, not summaries, and answers stream in with your own life as the source. Scope a conversation to your whole journal, to a single day, to the last 14, 30, 60, or 90 days, or to one tag's timeline. When an answer is worth keeping, save it straight into today's log.

The day a blank page is too much

Every journal eventually meets the same wall: an empty page on a day you are too tired to fill it. So a blank day here opens with a question instead of nothing, and you can answer it two ways. Write it, or hand it to Seneca. In the chat he asks about your day, follows what you actually say, and when the conversation winds down he turns it into short tagged notes in today's log. You end up with an entry you never had to sit down and compose, which is how the habit survives the tired days.

Tags turn your diary into data you can ask about

As you write, start any line with an @tag: @lesson when something clicks, @idea when something sparks, @gym, @mom, anything. The line files itself onto that tag's timeline while the rest of your entry stays plain prose. Every tag becomes something you can explore and chat about on its own. Open one and it reads itself back to you: when it first appeared, roughly how often it comes around, how many days it has run unbroken, and which tags it tends to travel with. Below that sits every line you ever filed under it, one click from filling the screen on its own.

Threads: patterns with receipts

Every so often, run a discover. The AI reads weeks of entries and names what keeps returning: a worry, a habit, a slow win you had not noticed compounding. Every thread cites verbatim lines from your own logs as evidence, tracks whether it is trending better or worse, and can suggest one small next move. It is self-reflection with the rereading finally automated.

Built like a diary, not a feed

  • Your entries are yours. Stored securely in your account, never sold, never shared.
  • AI reads only when you ask. The AI never reads your journal uninvited. It runs only when you start a chat, open Seneca, or run a discover, and only to generate your insights. Nothing is analyzed in the background.
  • No streak-shaming, no feed. Come when you have something, skip the weeks you need to skip, and nothing is lost. That is the whole app.
  • Free to use. The full app, from the moment you sign up.

New to journaling entirely?

The AI is only as good as the life you feed it, and feeding it is easy: a few honest lines, whenever you have them. If you have never kept a journal, start with the beginner's guide or grab a few prompts. Two weeks of short entries is enough for the first patterns to surface.

The questions, answered
Q.What is an AI journal?
A.

An AI journal is a digital journal or diary that uses AI to work with what you write: answering questions about your own entries, summarizing periods of your life, and surfacing patterns across months of writing. You still do the writing; the AI does the rereading.

Q.Can I really chat with my journal?
A.

Yes. In MomentoMori, the chat reads your actual log entries, not summaries of them, and answers with reference to what you really wrote. You can scope a conversation to your whole journal, to recent entries, or to a single tag like @work or @lesson.

Q.What if I do not feel like writing that day?
A.

Answer in a chat instead. A blank day opens with a question, and you can hand it to Seneca rather than the editor. He asks about your day, follows what you say, and turns the conversation into short tagged notes in your log. The entry gets written either way, which is what keeps the habit alive on the tired days.

Q.Is MomentoMori free?
A.

Yes. MomentoMori is free while in active development, and the full app is available from the moment you sign up. If paid plans arrive later, core journaling stays free and your entries remain yours.

Q.Is an AI diary private?
A.

Your entries are stored securely in your account and are never sold or shared. The AI reads your content only to generate your insights, and that is the only reason. Like most web apps, entries are not end-to-end encrypted; do not log passwords or secrets.

Q.How is an AI journal different from ChatGPT?
A.

A general chatbot forgets you between conversations and has never seen your history. An AI journal is grounded in your own entries: months of your real days, decisions, and moods. Its answers cite your life, not the internet.

Your life is already writing the story.

Start the log today. In two weeks, ask your journal what it has noticed. That first answer is usually the moment this stops feeling like an app.
